Family Fun Day

A part of The Rockfield Centre fundraising week

Come join us for a day of fun! Entry will be by donation, with all funds raised going towards supporting future events here at The Rockfield Centre.


Open Drop In Events

The Rowan Room Cafe 11am-4pm

Check out our new self-service community space, where we'll have home-made soups, baking, and other treats on offer, including cinema-themed snacks (hotdogs and popcorn, anyone?)

Kid's Party 11am - 4pm, Ash Room

Dance, bounce, and play! We'll have an inflatable Disco Dome as well as soft-play, a ball-pit, and a face-painter for you to enjoy. This room is sponsored by EasyPeasyParties.

Sensory Chill-Out Space 11am - 4pm, Silver Birch Room

We're over the moon to be working with Fairness Acceptance Inclusion Respect (F.A.I.R SC052730) to make our Family Fun Day more accessible. F.A.I.R. will be working with us to transform our Silver Birch Room into a sensory chill-out space, complete with bean bag chairs, soft cushions, and calming music. This room will be open all day, and you'll be able to find out more about the work that F.A.I.R do, and leave a donation if you'd like to support them.

Drop-in Arts and Crafts Sessions 11am - 4pm, Hawthorn Room

Come and do some arts and crafts in our purpose build Art Classroom! We'll supply the materials, and have tutors on hand to offer advice and inspiration - the rest is up to you!

Imaginative Play 12pm - 12:45pm / 2pm - 4pm, PlaySpace

Enjoy a free session in our Play Space! Explore our mini-grocery store and chemist, ancient cave, and even sail the high seas!

Trad Session 2pm - 4pm, Rowan Room Cafe

Join local musicians for a traditional music session in our Rowan Room Cafe. New musicians welcome... or just come for a listen!

Children's Storytelling 11am - 11:45am, Play Space

Explore fun tales from our rich local tradition with Argyll Storyteller Dawud Duncan. Let imaginations run wild through forests, islands, and mountains. Includes a free session in our playroom. This event is aimed at pre-school age children, but siblings are very welcome! Suggested donation £3 per child. 

Wise Tales 12pm - 12:45pm, Oak Room

Enjoy 'Wise Tales' with local Storyteller Dawud Duncan in our Oak Room Theatre. Explore clever old stories from Argyll and beyond that have been entertaining audiences for centuries - and have loads of fun along the way! This event is fun for all the family. Suggested donation £3.

Nature's Fascinating Friendships 1pm - 1:45pm, PlaySpace

Join children's author and illustrator duo Mike Hills and Kerry Hyndman for a reading of their Children's book 'Nature's Fascinating Friendships' -  an amazing journey around the world to discover how animals, plants, and microscopic organisms develop fascinating friendships to survive and thrive. This event is aimed at primary school age children, but is open to all the family. Suggested donation £3  per child. 

Family Pop-Up Cinema 2pm - 4pm, Oak Room

Join us for a laid-back screening of IF (2024) - a story about a girl who discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends — and what she does with that superpower — as she embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids. IF stars Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, and the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell alongside many more as the wonderfully unique characters that reflect the incredible power of a child’s imagination. Suggested donation £5.
