Exploring the rainforest with Oban Wild Life Club

Oban Wild Life (OWL) club is a kids nature club for 8-12 year olds. Between April - September, the club will be arranging fun and engaging nature-themed activities once a month. From rummaging in rock pools to bouncing on the bog, hanging with bats to otter spotting, we will explore loads of cool ways to get closer to the wildlife on our doorstep!

Did you know we have a rainforest right here in Oban?!

Lush, misty and bursting with life, the temperate rainforest at Dunollie is one of the world’s rarest habitats. OWL club will be exploring Dunollie rainforest together through a sensory walk, forest bathing and fun games and activities  - come and join us!

It is a RAINforest, so remember to wear/bring waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear - wellies, walking boots or trainers.

We will be going to The Rockfield Centre cafe afterwards for a nature natter and some well-earned grub!

Your workshop leaders

Laura Corbe - “I’ve always been happiest outdoors. I first studied zoology then later, as I started to explore our magical underwater world, marine biology. I’m passionate about protecting nature above & below the water so future generations can also experience the joy it has given to me. I really believe that to be truly happy we have to start repairing & understanding our relationship with nature.”

Ellen Bird - “I'm a huge nature nerd and currently work in conservation for the RSPB. I don’t mind whether it’s birds, moths, wildflowers or otters, as long as I’m outside then I’m very happy. Feeling connected to the nature around me has always been, and continues to be, what grounds me and gives me joy. OWL club will embed a love for the outdoors from a young age, encouraging local kids to get involved in the future protection and conservation of Argyll’s precious habitats and wildlife. After all, we only protect what we know and love!”
