In these sessions you will explore fundamental art techniques, including;
Colour
Tone
Landscapes
Portaits
You will be guided through a series of exercises to improve your drawing skills and gain a deeper understanding of how to use colour in your work, using the colour wheel. You will look at tone as a basis for producing a finished piece of work, practicing tonal drawing with a pencil. You will learn to explore your individual style with continuous line drawings and paint pictures using complimentary colours, as well as other skills and techniques.
You will receive personalised tuition aimed at your skill level throughout the course and students are encouraged to ask questions.
At the end of this course, you will leave with a new toolbox of artistic skills which take your paintings and drawings to the next level, as well as final pieces which you will be truly proud of.
All resources and materials will be provided. This session will allow for individuals to learn at their own pace, catering to different skill levels.
Paul Gent
Your tutor Paul Gent is a painter and community artist who has recently moved to Oban. He has worked throughout the community for 30 years including in schools, youth clubs, community centres, prisons and refugee camps - both in the UK and in many countries abroad. Paul uses 1930’s travel posters, children’s cartoon, popular board and card game layouts and maps as inspiration for his studio and community work. His work challenges concepts of community, home, diversity and behaviour. Nowadays, Paul likes to walk his dog around the town with a sketchbook in hand.
