Art Therapy Taster Sessions
Date: Wednesday 14th, 21st, 28th July

A series of three taster workshops led by The Rockfield Centre’s Creative Wellness Worker Niki Currie.
These workshops are tailored for those that have had feelings of isolation and loneliness and are designed to help enhance and support the wellbeing of the participants in our community.
No previous art experience is required to participate. Sessions are developed to evoke a sense of therapeutic creativity and mindfulness.
Sessions can be booked individually allowing you to choose which ones you attend.
All equipment and materials will be supplied by The Rockfield Centre.
Art Therapy can produce therapeutic results through transformational creative process. It can provide the freedom to express yourself through creativity & provide the opportunity to work with others in the community as a group. This can promote and develop your creative ability and could assist in the healing process of mental health as well as calming the mind and relaxing the body in a very gentle way using a creative approach.
Taster Session 1 Mandala creation Wednesday 14th July.
Starting with a gentle meditation and visualization using breathing exercises and uplifting music, Niki will then talk to the group about the different styles, shapes and colours they may want to create using watercolour pencils as you explore the creative process. The session will close with a gentle self-visualization moment and calming music.
Materials to be used A4 drawing paper, drawing pencils, a wide range of watercolour pencils
Taster 2 postcards of memories Wednesday 21st July.
Starting with a gentle meditation and visualization using breathing exercises and uplifting music, Participants will take with them for this session a postcard picture of something somewhere that makes them feel happy and uplifted to share with each other the memories from this postcard which can stimulate the mind to bring some uplifting memories and explore our heritage. Participants will pick out their favourite part of the postcard to sketch on paper and add colour. The session will close with a gentle self-visualization moment and calming music.
Materials to be used A4 drawing paper, drawing pencils, a wide range of watercolour pencils.
Session 3 Gratitude drawing Wednesday 28th July.
Starting with a gentle meditation and visualization using breathing exercises and uplifting music, Draw something that makes you happy. Draw something you are thankful for. Draw something you love. Draw something inspirational, maybe some quotes that inspire you. We will then sit back with a gentle self-visualization moment with calming music to end the session.
Covid-19 protocols will be in place for all sessions.
Participants should adhere to current government Covid-19 guidelines.
