Other names: garden marigold, pot marigold, Scottish marigold, ruddles . The common name ‘marigold’ refers to the Virgin Mary (Mary’s gold)

An easy to grow hardy annual plant which will self-seed.

Attracts bees and hoverflies

Native to Southwestern Asia, western Europe and Medditerranean regions

Traditional uses – culinary, for flavour and colour in wine, breads, poultry dishes, soups and puddings. Medicinal uses.

Dye: The flowers give yellow, orange, honey and light brown shades
