Workshop
In this three-hour long workshop, participants will be introduced to three basic printmaking techniques: stamping, polystyrene block printing and gel plate monoprinting.
By the end of the workshop, participants should feel confident enough to use and experiment with these techniques in their own environments, combining elements of all three techniques to create unique prints.
Course Outline
10am-11am
Introduction to stamping
Objective: carve some stamps from erasers, and record experiments with stamps & colours in a sketchbook
11am-12 noon
Introduction to polystyrene block printing
Objective: use polystyrene to make printing plates - create some unique prints
12 noon-1pm
Introduction to gel plate monoprinting
Objective: create some backgrounds, collage papers or unique prints

Alice Strange
Artist Alice Strange lives and works in Oban. She has degrees in electrical engineering, operations research and art history and has been trained by master printmakers in screenprinting, collagraphy and gel plate monoprinting. She has been a member of the Glasgow Print Studio since 2011 and was one of 50 members commissioned to make a print for the “Here and Now” section of “The Love of Print: 50 Years of Glasgow Print Studio” at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow earlier this year.
